National Great Outdoors Month began as ‘Great Outdoors Week’ in 1998 and aims to celebrate and promote outdoor recreation while highlighting the benefits of spending time outdoors. This now month-long celebration serves as a way to educate newcomers and outdoor enthusiasts on conservation efforts, best practices, resources, and the many health and wellness benefits that come with being outdoors.
